Recycled metals and how I use them

Recycled metals and how I use them

Did you know that all jewellery at IZABO Jewellery Design is made by using recycled metals?

From the very start, prioritizing sustainability has been integral to my business ethos. I've consistently strived to make environmentally friendly choices, and opting for recycled silver - and more recently, gold - was not just a decision but a clear and intentional commitment. Let me explain...

The traditional methods of mining both gold and silver is a complex process that raises various environmental and ethical concerns. The process not only releases greenhouse gases, including diesel exhaust fumes, into the atmosphere but also often results in environmental repercussions such as river damming, deforestation, and water pollution.

Consider the impact: extracting just 10g of gold requires moving a whopping 5 tonnes of ore through conveyor systems, emphasizing the environmental toll.

Metals used in jewellery making are frequently recycled from sources like medical equipment, trade tools, old cars, and technology devices such as phones and cameras. These recycling processes are more environmentally friendly and do not compromise the quality of the metal.

At the IZABO headquarters, I take the extra step of recycling all scrap metal once again....even the sawdust!

When you choose an IZABO piece, you're not just getting jewellery, you're supporting sustainability and responsible practices. Join me in creating a greener, more conscientious future—one beautiful piece at a time.
